How to Install php, Composer for Magento 2 on Mac OS X
To Install php, Composer for Magento 2 on Mac OS X, you need to follow:
- Step 1: Install Home brew
- Step 2: Install PHP and Mcrypt.so by home brew
- Step 3: Install ICU by home brew
- Step4: Install Openssl
- Step 5: Install Pecl
- Step 6: Install Intl
- Step 7: Install composer:
This is “Home Brew“.
Step 1: Install Home brew
Get Xcode:
Download home brew through command line:
/usr/bin/ruby-e'$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' |
Step 2: Install PHP and Mcrypt.so by home brew:
Add a new line: extension=mcrypt.so into php.ini file
To make sure php and mcrypt will be used please write these commands:
After finish you have to add new PATH to bash_profile

Add new lines:
export PATH=”/usr/local/bin:$PATH”
export PATH=”/usr/local/sbin:$PATH”
Step 3: Install ICU by home brew:
Install ICU
Note: Maybe the version of the icu is incorrect, you can download and switch another version: http://site.icu-project.org/download/55#TOC-ICU4C-Download
